Alice Patricia (Henson) Shelton, 76, of Muskogee, OK was born September 12, 1944 to George H. and Evelyn (Steiner) Henson and peacefully passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 in Muskogee, OK.
She received her formal education from Muskogee Schools and graduated from Muskogee Central High School with the Class of 1963. After graduating, she continued her education by going to the College of Cosmetology in Oklahoma City. She made this her career for over 50 years, retiring in 2015.
Alice was a member of the Roundup Club, where she shared her love for horses. She could be found horseback riding, when she and Richard wasn’t looking for antiques at local flea markets. Alice was an animal lover and loved anything purple.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband; Richard Shelton; brothers, Phillip and George Henson; and a sister, Peggy Stern.
She is lovingly survived by her sister’s; Violet Riley of Porter, OK and Judy Whittenberg of Muskogee, OK; her brother, Mike Henson and wife Rhonda of Muskogee, OK; 18 nieces and nephews; and her adopted family, Brandi and Mike Broyles of Muskogee, OK.
A visitation will be Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM.
A Celebration of Alice’s life will be 2PM Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK with Bill Stern, Jeff Coe, Terry Elders, Ron Riley, Brock Henson and Michael Whittenberg serving as casket bearers.
