On, March 28, 1946 Albert was united in marriage to Genevieve Marie Anderson in Reno, Nevada.
Albert was employed as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service at the Harrisonville Post Office until his retirement on December 1, 1978. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Harrisonville, an Army veteran of World War II receiving a purple heart and two bronze stars in the European Theatre. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4409 and the Hurley Lee Spicer Post #42 of the American Legion both of Harrisonville, the Disabled American Veterans, Butler, Missouri. Albert was a lifelong area resident.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve on July 25, 1987; two brothers, Jack and Herbert Wood.
He is survived by a son, Larry A. Wood and wife, Joni, Great Bend, Kansas; a daughter, Karen Beamer and husband, Gary, Overland Park, Kansas; granddaughters, Jennifer Moulder and husband, Robert, Overland Park, Kansas, Rachel Robinson and husband, Dr. Jason, Chanute, Kansas, Lindy Wood and Hayley Wood both of Wichita, Kansas; a brother, Robert W. Wood and wife, Betty, Raymore, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Monday, September 12, 2005 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Freeman, Missouri Cemetery. Family suggests contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
