Karen Etta Beamer, 69, Overland Park, KS, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and services at 2:00 p.m. Private inurnment will be in the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Kansas City Hospice House. Karen was born April 12, 1947 in Westwood, California, the daughter of Albert Leonard and Genevieve Marie (Anderson) Wood. She moved with her family to Harrisonville at a young age and was a 1965 graduate of Harrisonville High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville. Karen and Gary were married on December 30, 1966 in Harrisonville and she became a homemaker raising her two daughters. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and being with her grandchildren in later years. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Gary G. Beamer of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Moulder (Robert), Overland Park, KS and Rachel Robinson (Jason), Humboldt, KS; one brother, Larry A. Wood, Great Bend, KS; 3 grandchildren, Rachel Kay, Robbie and Sawyer Robinson; nieces and many cousins.
