Larry Albert Wood of Great Bend, KS, born November 10, 1948 in Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 71. He was the son of Albert L. and Genevieve M. (Anderson) Wood.
He served in the Vietnam War, four years active duty and four years in the reserve and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Larry was a skilled brick layer and carpenter, was formerly employed by Doonan Trailer and retired from Larned State Hospital as a Security Officer.
In his younger years, he loved coaching sports for his daughters, boating, fishing and hunting. Going to auctions and collecting coins were a few of his hobbies.
Survivors include his daughter Lindy Precht (Justin), Wichita KS; Hayley Pivonka (Andy), Great Bend, KS; two grandchildren Kohen and Genevieve Pivonka; Joni Wood, ex-wife, Great Bend, KS; brother-in-law Gary Beamer, Clinton, MO; nieces, cousins and friends and his cherished Labradoodle, Chase.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Karen Beamer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be mailed to the Quilts of Valor, 2514 North Lindberg Street, Wichita, KS 67226.
Cremation has taken place. Due to social restrictions, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
