Mr. Champagne worked for Williams-McWilliams for 45 years. He enjoyed working in his yard and doing carpentry work.
Survivors include his wife, Alma A. Champagne, of Madisonville; his son, Herman L. Champagne and his wife, Mary Ann, of Cecilia; and four sisters, Donna Angelle, Merlene Mouton, both of Breaux Bridge, Ollie Thomassee, of Cecilia, and Annie Lou Hayes, of Cankton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eraste and Theodora Thibodeaux Champagne; his grandson, Herman L. Champagne, Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. on Monday and continue until time of service. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
