Anthony Artechevarria

     COUNCIL - Rosary for John Anthony "Tony" Artechevarria, 21, Council, who died Friday near Juliaetta, as the result of an auto accident, will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the St. Jude of the Apostle Catholic Church, Council. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Council IOOF School by Fr. James McSorley. Interment will be in the Council IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Northam - Jones Funeral Home.

     He was born Oct. 20, 1953, at Cascade. He moved with his family to Council from Boise where he had attended West Junior High and Bishop Kelly High School. He lettered in football, basketball and track.

     He was a member of the National Honor Society in Boise and Council. He attended Boys State in 1971 and was the Council Chamber of Commerce Boy of the Year in 1972 as the salutatorian. At the time of his death he was a junior at the University of Idaho, where in 1972 he was voted outstanding pledge of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. During the summer months he had been employed by Boise-Cascade.

     Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Artechevarria of Council; a brother, Robert L. at the University of Idaho, Moscow; three sisters, Terese Ann, Boise State University, Maria Fay and Virginia K., both of Council; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lillian Rogers of Boise; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joaquin Arte of Nampa.
