Robert Lee Artechevarria, “Mr. Bob,” age 62 of Spokane, Washington, passed away at home Friday, January 5, 2018. Born to John and Katherine Artechevarria on February 14, 1955 in Cascade, ID, Robert touched the hearts and minds of many. Robert worked passionately as a special education teacher for school districts in Idaho, Kansas and Washington. He was a graduate of Council High School only to further his education at the University of Idaho. There he acquired a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Elementary Education. Learning was a passion of Bob’s and to continue his education, Bob attended the University of Kansas to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education and later attended Eastern Washington University to earn his second Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Along with learning, Bob had many other passions including; jogging, Bloomsday racing, bicycling, weightlifting, music and his morning coffee. Throughout his life Bob had three children, his beloved German Shepherds; Colonel, Major and Rex. Bob was kind, gentle and furiously funny. He left behind a legacy within his church, work and family communities. Throughout his 41 years of teaching, Bob touched the lives of many challenged children as he modified current programs to fit the needs of his special students. He taught so many little ones to read, write and count. He was an integral part of his family as he was a jokester as well as a family man. He will be remembered with much laughter, many smiles and loving memories. Bob is survived by his mother Katherine Artechevarria; his sister Teresa Artechevarria; his sister and brother-in-law Fred and Virginia Martin; six nieces and nephews; and five great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John Artechevarria; infant brother Ronald; brother Tony and sister Maria. A rosary will be recited in Bob’s honor Monday January 15, 2018 at 7PM at the Nampa Funeral Chapel, Yraguen Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM Tuesday January 16, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nampa, ID. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
