Great Grandfather, Henry Isaac Stanley, Born, 21 November 1844, in St. Armand, Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada. Died, 7 April, 1926, Bakersfield, Franklin, Vermont.

Henry came to Berkshire, Vermont as early as 1865 when he bought land in December of 1865 at the age of 21 years.

On the 19th July 1868 he married Viola (Wallace) Sager, (a widow) whose husband had died in the Civil War. Henry and Viola made their home on the farm in East Berkshire, Vermont that Henry purchased.

Together Henry and Viola had a baby girl on the 24th June 1869, Mary Viola Stanley. According to her death certificate she contacted "consumption" and died on the 6th September 1869 at the age of two months and thirteen days old. She's buried at the Congregational Church Cemetery, East Berkshire, Vermont.

Viola was also ill with "consumption" and she died a little over a months later on the 23rd of October 1869 at 23 years, 5 months and 7 days of age. She's buried with her baby daughter in the same cemetery, East Berkshire, Vermont.

On the 20th November 1869 of the same year, Henry married Great Grandmother Susannah (Mudgett) Farrand, (a widow) whose husband had also died in the Civil War. And Henry and Susannah continued living on the farm in East Berkshire, Vermont according to the old land deeds. Henry owned a Cheese Factory along with the farm that he farmed for years. All his children were born in East Berkshire and Together he and Susannah had nine children with all growing to adulthood except two.

Henry and Susannah were married for 14 years, 9 months and 27 days when she died at the age of 42 years on the 17th September 1886. Leaving Henry a widower with 8 Children all under the age of thirteen years. Their Son Albert had died previous to this. At the time of Susannah's death, their oldest son Daniel was 13 years and the youngest child, Blaine was two years old. I've found no documentation to date that tells how Henry and the children managed after Susannah's death. They did continue to live on the farm in East Berkshire, Vermont, again according to the old land deeds.

About three and a half years after Susannah's death Henry married for the third time to Ann Dimick Eldred, on the 5th July 1890 by the Justice of the Peace in Richford, Vermont. This marriage had it's problems and did not last. They were divorced in the fall term of 1902, but according to the Court Records Ann had left quite awhile before this.

Henry continued living on the farm in East Berkshire, Vermont. In 1920 Henry deeded the farm to his son Blaine Stanley and his wife Frances Mary (Rushton) Stanley. Blaine took care of his father Henry until his death. One year and four months after Henry deeded the farm to his son Blaine, he sold the farm and moved to Bakersfield, Vermont and that is where Henry died, at his son Blaine's home, Bakersfield, Vermont on the 7th April 1926 at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 17 days. Henry is buried in the Congregational Church Cemetery in East Berkshire, Vermont.
