From the book, The Fighting Men of Oklahoma: Cpl Howard Glen Baxter, Sr. was born in Millsap TX on Dec. 10, 1914. He moved to Oklahoma in 1938 and was inducted into the service on Feb. 24, 1943 at Los Angeles, graduating from the Aviation Institute of Technology at Sunnyside LI. Cpl Baxter served 21 months in the ETO as an airplane mechanic and participated in the campaigns of Northern France, Central Europe, the Rhineland and the Ardennes. He was discharged Sept. 12, 1945 and was awarded the EAME Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars, Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and the Marksmanship Badge.
