Funeral services for Andrew Gutfleisch, seventy, who was founder and for many years proprietor of the Manhattan Laundry, and who died Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph's hospital, after a brief illness, will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock, from Groff's funeral parlors. Requiem mass will be held at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic church with burial in St. Anthony's cemetery. He was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents when a child residing in Philadelphia for a time before coming to Lancaster at the age of nineteen years. He founded the Manhattan laundry and was interested in it until his retirement fourteen years ago since which time he has resided at Mount Gretna. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks lodge. Besides his wife, who before marriage was Miss Kathryn B. Eschbach, of this city, he is survived by a brother, Nicholas, of Memphis, Tenn. (Lancaster New Era - May 26, 1930)
