Mr. Woody
Funeral services for Mr. Howard Woody, Sr., 84, of Route 1 Elkhart, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church, Elkhart, Rev. Robert H. Moran and Rev. Verdell Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Hassell and Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Woody died Friday at 4 p.m. at his residence following a sudden illness.
Mr. Woody was born July 4, 1898 in Atlanta, Ga., the son of W. J. Woody and Janie Nelms Woody. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart and a brickmason.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Bowman Woody of Elkhart, two sons, J. H. Woody, Jr. and Jerry Glenn Woody, both of Elkhart; two daughters, Mrs. Junita Underwood of Lancaster and Mrs. Fredia Cave of Mesquite; two brothers, M. T. Woody of Palestine and W. J. Woody of Liverpool; eight sisters, Mrs. Ima Dunnahoe of Tyler, Mrs. Lessie Kennedy of Elkhart, Mrs. Ruby Pate of Dallas, Mrs. Addie Lou Huffman of Harmony, Mrs. Verna Scoggins of Dallas, Mrs. Annie Maude Hinson of Dallas, Mrs. Lillian McInnis of Elkhart, and Mrs. Geraldine Davis of Dallas; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jack Woody, Rush Herrington, Homer Woody, Howard Huffman, Benny Joe McInnis and W. A. Montgomery.
