Idabel resident James Isaac Barrett, 83, passed away Dec. 21, 2001, at Memorial Heights Nursing Home, Idabel. He was born Jan. 8, 1918, at Idabel.
James Barrett was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was owner and operator of Mistletoe and Ryan freight lines in Idabel for 27 years. He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.
Barrett was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine Barrett, his daughter, Jamie Ann Barrett; his nine brothers and his four sisters; and his six half brothers and half sisters.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Bud Wake, Idabel; his grandchildren, Wendy Jenkins and Jimmy Wake, both of Idabel; his great-grandchildren, Sody Tyrel Wake and Cutter Lane Wake, both of Idabel; four nephews, Harvey Glen Newson, Dallas, Texas, Vern Burelson, Idabel, Lawrence Barrett, Broken Bow, and Bobby Maddox, Arlington, Texas; and many friends.
The family of James Barrett will receive relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 23, at Jim Norwood Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Dec. 26, in Forest Hill Cemetery.
