Joe Johnston, 66, Evansville, a Wyoming resident since 1922, died Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Johnston was born Jan. 15, 1883, at Lamont, (incorrect, s/b Lamoni) Ia., and spent his early years in Iowa and Missouri. He married Pearl Brown in Bethany, Mo., on April 23, 1900.
The family came to Casper in 1922, and Mr. Johnston had been engaged in ranching in this vicinity since that time.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Oral Tull, Hatfield, Mo.; two sons, Derlin, Evansville, and George, of Winside, Neb.; three sisters, Dolly Johnston, Hatfield, Mo., Mrs. Eddie Marshall, Lamoni, Ia., and Lizzie Simpson, Vancouver, Wash.; and two brothers, Sam Johnston, Eagleville, Mo., and Dave Johnston, Hatfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bustard funeral home with the Rev. Charles S. Bream officiating. The body will be entrained Saturday night for services and burial in the family plot in Lone Rock, Mo. (services were in Lone Rock Church and interment was in adjacent Payne Cemetery near Hatfield, Mo.)
