"Emma Gruber, 90, daughter of Wolfgang Alt and the former Margaret Bindl, was born at Plain, Wisconsin Nov. 14, 1879 [1876], and passed away on March 18, 1970, after a long illness. She was a lifelong area resident. She was united in marriage to Joseph Gruber Oct. 19, 1901, [should be 1902] at Plain, Wisconsin. To this union were born three daughters. . . She was an active member of St. Luke's parish in Plain and St. John's at Spring Green. She was a member of the Mathias Sodality in both parishes and a member of the Mother of Our Redeemer Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers, Mike, John, Joe, George, Leo and Robert Alt; one sister, Mrs. George Paulus (Anna); two grandsons, LaVerne and Gerald Ruetten. She is survived by her three daughters and on sister, Mrs. Joseph Blau of Plain, 11 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our appreciation to all who visited our Mother and sent cards, flowers, and for prayers while she was in the Richland Center hospital, and brought food at the time of her death. . . There is a large marker with "GRUBER" and picture of Jesus and a kneeling person with prayer "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." In front are footstones for Emma and Joseph, and grandson LaVerne Ruetten.
