"Obituary - Joseph Gruber, Joseph Gruber was born January 12th, 1883, on a farm at Bear Creek, now owned by Mrs. Jos. Alt. In 1902 [29 Oct 1902] he was united in marriage to Emma Alt at Plain, and to this union was born three daughters, Clara, Mrs. Raymond Ruetten; Catherine, Mrs. William Bindl and Alma, Mrs. Joseph Ruetten. At the age of forty-two years he purchased the J. C. Evans farm where he lived until he was taken sick on September 23rd, when he was moved to the Richland hospital, where nothing that loving hands and medical aid could do to save his live. After two weeks illness he passed away of labor pneumonia on October 11th, 1938, at the age of 55 years. he was a highly respected man, a good husband and father, always faithful to his church duties, and always helping others in time of need. Requiem High Mass was sung for him on October 14th at St. John's church and burial was made at St. Luke's cemetery at Plain. Those left to moun his passing are his wife and daughters, ten grandchildren, sisters and brothers and many other relatives and friends. Card of Thanks, We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Revs. Fr. Flad, Fr. Mooney, Fr. Deirs and Fr. There is a large marker with "GRUBER" and picture of Jesus and a kneeling person with prayer "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." In front are footstones for Emma and Joseph, and grandson LaVerne Ruetten.
