Eulalia Compton Johnson, 92, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999. Born in Falls Mills, she had been a resident of Hampton for 60 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hampton and the Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority.

Mrs. Johnson received her teaching certificate from Radford State Teachers College and her B.A. degree from William and Mary. She taught school nine years in Bluefield and 25 years in Hampton, retiring in 1970.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice V. Johnson; and three brothers, Ballard Compton, Walter Compton and Henry Compton. She is survived by her daughter, Jane J. Roberts of Hampton; her sons, Maurice V. Johnson Jr. of West Point, Wade C. Johnson of Bluefield and Walter B. Johnson of Hampton; her sisters, Delilah Glass of Georgetown, Ky., Ruby C. Davies of Macon, Ga., Cassie C. Morgan of Sarasota, Fla., and Doris C. Emmott of Locust Grove; her brothers, Harry W. Compton and Charles R. Compton, both of Hampton; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel by the Rev. John B. Morris, pastor of First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Nephews will act as pallbearers.

The family requests any memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 110 Queen St., Hampton, Va. 23669, or your favorite charity.
