Gleamer Margie Gosdin Cavender, of Bowdon, Ga., passed away July 20, 2020 at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kara Cavender; parents, Henry Marshall and Idell (Mitchell) Gosdin; brother, Aweis Gosdin (Catherine Word); and her sisters: Betty Gosdin Yates (Emmett), Shirley Gosdin Traylor, all of Bowdon, Ga. and Christine Gosdin Caldwell of Douglasville, Ga.

Gleamer was given responsibility at a very early age to take care of chores on the family farm and see that the other children did their work as well. She grew up in hard times where family worked, played and worshipped together. Gleamer worked during WW II in Atlanta supporting the war effort building planes and was one of many women known as “Rosie the Riveter”. Her former husband, Kara Cavender, was career Army and she and the children joined him in Germany and Panama as well as other duty stations. She was raised with a very strong work ethic and raised her two precious and dearly beloved children by working at sewing and later worked at Southwire in Carrollton, Ga. Gleamer worked maintaining her personal family farm and home. She believed in hard work and charity to her community members and family in times of need as well as was a true animal lover who loved working and being outdoors. Gleamer treasured her children, grandchildren, family, community, God and Country above all else. She was a long-time member of Sardis Baptist Church and the Senior Center of Bowdon, Ga. She loved to collect antiques while shopping far and wide in the local annual sales. She will be greatly missed by all.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Cavender was cremated. No public services are planned.
