CHARLESTON--Funeral services for T. Frederick Winterton, 52, co-founder of the Winterton Brothers purebred Hereford herd, who died late Saturday at his home in Charleston, will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Charleston LDS Ward Chapel by Bishop Wayne Whitting. Burial will be in Charleston Cemetery, directed by Olpin Brothers Mortuary of Heber.
Mr. Winterton, prominent farmer and livestock man in Wasatch valley, died following a prolonged illness with a complication of ailments. He was born in Charleston on August 14, 1886, to the late William and Ellen Widdison Winterton. He married Sheila Carlile on December 15, 1909, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. An active church worker, he served a mission to the British Isles in 1910-11 and was in the superintendency of Charleston LDS Ward Sunday School for 18 years, 12 of them as superintendent. He was a member of the ward genealogical committee and at the time of his death a member of the stake genealogical board and the ward high priests quorum.
Surviving are his widow, a foster mother, Mrs. Jane Winterton, four sons and daughters, Neil F., Boyd W. and Wilma Winterton and Mrs. Velda Carlson, all of Charleston; a grandchild and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Sarah E. Price, Mrs. Carrie Davis, William H. and Leo Winterton of Charleston, Mrs. Eliza Thacker of Daniels, Hyrum S. Winterton of Woodland, Ralph S. Winterton and Mrs. Nettie Kuhni of Provo and Mrs. Melissa Thomson of McGarth, Alta, Canada.
