"SERVICES HELD FOR BESSIE BLAKELY--Services for Bessie Earl (sic: Irl) Blakely, 96, life-long Marshall County resident, were held Wednesday in Madill.
Mrs. Blakely died Monday in the home of her daughter, Doris Turner of Madill.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. in Watts Memorial Chapel with Homer Walkup officiating. Music was arranged by Johnnie Ruth Jacks and Elaine Williams. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery. Those serving as casket escorts were Mrs. Blakely's nephews, Ben Adkins, Arnold Anderson, Bill Buck, Delbert Locke, Orville Locke, and Walter Adkins.
In addition to her daughter, Doris, Mrs. Blakely is survived by five other children--Loran Blakely, Velma Dickson, Doyle Blakely and Troy Blakely, all of Madill and Aletha Blakely of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Blakely was born in Lark, Indian Territory, September 6, 1890. She was married to Algie Blakely, November 25, 1917, in Rocky Point. Mrs. Blakely and her husband farmed in the Rabon, Oakland, and Cliff communities.
Mr. Blakely preceded his wife in death, November 19, 1962. She was also preceded in death by a son, Claude Blakely, June 15, 1970, and a granddaughter, Claudia Jo Blakely, November 19, 1948.
In 1970, Mrs. Blakely moved to Madill and resided here the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Oklahoma Baptist Church for many years, then moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Madill. At the age of 96, she was the eldest member of her church."
