Richard M. Swan, 60, Gosport, died at 5:59 p.m. Aug. 26, 2007, at his residence. Born Sept. 8, 1946, in Willimantic, Conn., he was the son of the late Avis (Nichols) Swan. His godparents were Hormidice and Beatrice Dagnault. He married LuAnn (Duvall) Swan Aug. 29, 1975. She survives in Gosport.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jeanie D. White of Martinsville and Joni L. Swan of Gosport; two brothers, Tom and Sam Swan, both of North Carolina; a sister, Jean Durnell of Michigan; several other brothers and sisters in Connecticut; and eight grandchildren. Jeffrey and Christie Holden, Taylor White, Dylan and Austin Snooks, Tyler Parker and Cori and Taylor Dilley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Stevens, and a brother, Bobby Taylor.

He was a retired truck driver for Klosterman Bakery and a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville. He was a dedicated family man spending much time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching softball and was active with the Junior 4-H Fishing Club.

Services were entrusted to Neal and Summers Mortuary of Martinsville, Indiana.
