Robert and his brother James both served on the Confederate side during the American Civil War. They were both soldiers of the 9th and 10th Mississippi Infrantries. James was injured in the Battle of Franklin and went on to become a highly decorated war hero. Sadly, Robert perished shortly after enlisting. Robert never married nor did he have any children.
Robert and his father John passed away within ten days of each other and are buried side by side in the New Bethlehem Cemetery in Horn Lake. They share a grave marker.
