After William died, Lucy was living with her daughter Agnes Russell and family according to the 1940 census records. Agnes died in 1943 and then Lucy went to Arizona to live with her son George and family. Lucy died in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 91. She and William are buried in Humboldt, Kansas.
