HARRODSBURG - Services for William M. Royalty, 82, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Royalty, a resident of 115 N. High St., Burgin, died in the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital emergency room at 2:56 p.m. Thursday after an apparent heart attack. The Revs. Gilbert Shely and Richard Lowe officiated. Burial was in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Jessamine County. Pallbearers were Royalty's grandsons.

Royalty was born Nov. 1, 1896, in Washington County to George and Clara Burchell Royalty. He had 33 years of service with Kentucky Utilities. He was a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church, a member of the men's adult Bible class and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Jannie Goodlett Royalty; one daughter, Margaret Murphy of Nicholasville; four sons, G.W and Earl of Mercer County, Alfred of Danville and Bobby of Burgin; 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Wilburn (Doris) Reynolds of Magnolia, Ky., Mrs. John (Lietha) Preston of McAfee: and Mrs. Tommy (Mary) Dean of Bohon; nine step-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. One daughter, Sadie Risinger, predeceased Royalty.

The family requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Burgin Rescue Squad.
