A memorial service for Bobby Gene Royalty,Sr., 70, of Ashley Square, Burgin, a Burgin City Commisioner, will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday at Burgin Baptist Church by Mike Hamby and Matt Robinson. He died Friday at his home.

Born June 29th, 1934, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William M. and Lula Mae Cinnanom Royalty. In addition to serving as a city commisioner, he was retired from state Social Services, having worked at the Kentucky State Hospital and Danville Youth Development Center. He was a Marine veteran, having served in the Korean War where he earned two Purple Hearts. He was a member of Burgin Baptist Church where he attended the adult men's Sunday School class and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, having been appointed liaision to the organization by former President Jimmy Carter. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie Risinger and Marzetta Murphy, and two brothers, G.W. Royalty and Alfred Royalty.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lowe Royalty; four sons, Bobby Gene (Virginia) Royalty, Jr. of Jessamine County, Terrell Allen (Sandy) Royalty and Darryl Glenn (Charlotte) Royalty, both of Harrodsburg, and Gary Wayne (Marsha) Royalty of Burgin; a daughter, Marsha Gay (Gary) Erwin of Lexington; a brother, Earl Royalty of Harrodsburg; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 P.M. today at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at Burgin Baptist Church. Interment will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
