Funeral services for Lavon L. Hodge Bennett, a former Alfalfa resident, were held Wednesday at Alfalfa Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Chapman and Rev. Joe Sanders officiating. Burial was in the Alfalfa Cemetery under direction of Stanley-Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bennett died Sunday at Grace Living Center. She was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Carnegie. She was raised in Alfalfa and attended school there, graduating from Carnegie High School in 1931. She made her home on the Bennett farm for over 50 years. She was active helping on the farm where she and her husband raised wheat, cotton and cattle. She retired from the farm in 1998 and moved to El Reno. She was a member of Alfalfa Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher and church secretary, and a member of the Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, George; a son, Kenneth Bennett of El Reno; sister, Betty Arther of Hydro; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
