This beloved lady never married, but dedicated her life to the raising of her sister's orphan children. Her sister, Loucrecia Roberts Daniel, died early in life as did her husband, Absalom Daniel, leaving several small children. Ethelyn/Ethalinda was both mother and father to the children. She was much loved and much admired by her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews. She was a herbalist, gathering materials from surrounding woods and fields to make her homemade remedies.

She is found in various documents as Ethelyn, Linda, Lynn and Ethalinda. Most importantly, she was affectionately known to family members as "Aunt Nin".

Her obituary from the Hartselle Enquirer Newspaper of May 3, 1931 reads as follows: "Funeral services were held today for Mrs. (sic) Lynn Roberts who died yesterday at her home after an extended illness. She was widely known throughout the county. The funeral was conducted at the family cemetery by the Rev. W. W. Aldridge. She is survived by one brother, Robert Roberts."

The above obituary fails to mention that a sister, Josephine Roberts, and a brother, Isaac Douglas Roberts, also survived her.
