William Ezekiel Acorn of Welling, Oklahoma, loving father of two and friend to many, passed away on May 29, 2020, at the age of 68.
William was born on December 22, 1951 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and was son of the late French Acorn and Delia (Dobbs) Acorn. He earned his high school diploma in 1969 from Stilwell High School, and worked in general labor and manufacturing in his adult years. William fathered two children, Kenneth and Daniel, He is survived by his sons Kenneth Acorn and wife Brandi of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Daniel Acorn of Welling, Oklahoma, two grandsons Michael Acorn and Zachary Cook of Stilwell, Oklahoma, a brother, Franklin Acorn, of Redding, California, and a sister, Gladys Alonzo of Albuquerque, New Mexico. William was preceded in death by two sisters, Reba McCabe and Grace Green, and a brother, Wallace Acorn.
Known as Zeke in his younger years, and Uncle Will in his later years, William was known for his trademark blue hat, and he loved to stay busy and enjoyed sharing with people. Whether it was building or fixing something for himself or a friend, he liked to stay productive. He also enjoyed cooking a pie or a cake and handing out pieces to neighbors. And people clamored for his spaghetti. When he cooked a big pot, people eagerly anticipated it and looked forward to the great meal.
Perhaps William's favorite thing to do was sit and have a cup of coffee with some company, either sitting quietly and enjoying the time, or talking and joking. Joking around was one of his favorite ways to relate to people. He had a quick wit, and he loved to trade barbs with those around him, and many of his conversations ended with laughter. William wasn't much for emotional expression, and he could be gruff, but that's part of what made him lovable, because beneath that was a giving heart.. He wouldn't tell you he liked you, but you would know it because he would show you over and over again. He leaves behind a lot of great memories of lots of time spent with lots of people. That was William Acorn. He will be remembered and missed by many.
