George Christopher Davis, 88, died Saturday at his home at Kilmarnock after an illness of eighteen months. He was born in Maryland but had spent most of his life in Kilmarnock.
He is survived by his wife; one son, John Chris Davis; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Gould, and three grandchildren, all of Kilmarnock.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Seventh-day Adventist Church here by Rev. C. L. White and Rev. William Kaufmann followed by burial in the church cemetery.

DAVIS, George Christopher, was born in Shelltown, Md., on April 5, 1867, and died Sabbath afternoon. April 2, 1955, at Kilmarnock, Va., where he had made his home for more than thirty years. In 1909 he was married to Eva Marshall. They were blessed with two children; Edith Davis Gould and John Chris Davis, who survive with three grandchildren: Donald Lee Gould, Laverne Gould Carlson, and Cathy Lou Davis; four great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He and his wife were baptized into the remnant church in 1921 and remained faithful. Services were conducted in the church by the writer, assisted by Elder William Coffman, pastor of the Richmond Church, whose wife is one of his many cousins. He was laid to rest in the cemetery behind the church to await the resurrection. - C. L. White
