GRANDY - Winfred Stanley "Bud" MERRELL, 63, of the 6600 block of Caratoke Hwy., died Aug. 6, 2005 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mr. MERRELL was the son of the late St. Elmo "Elmer" MERRELL and Nellie Ferebee MERRELL of Poplar Branch. He was born in Currituck County and was a commercial fisherman. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Louise SAWYER and a brother, Carroll MERRELL. Surviving other than his mother, are four sons: Michael Stanley MERRELL and wife Pam of Poplar Branch, Ronnie MERRELL and wife Pattie of Kill devil Hills, Brian MERRELL of Elizabeth City, and Doug MERRELL of Hertford; three sisters: Marie M. OLD and husband E.W. of South Mills, Kay M. LEWIS of Stevensville, Md., and Judy M. BRICKHOUSE of Southern Shores; a brother, Darrell MERRELL and wife Beverly of Aydlett; and 3 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, at 6 p.m. at Poplar Branch Landing. Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, is in charge. (The Coastland Times - Tuesday, August 9, 2005; pg. 12A)
