Funeral services for J. D. Blessing, who died at a Keokuk hospital Friday, were held at the Coffey church south of Downing Sunday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. J. N. Baker of Memphis.

John David Blessing. son of Jacob and Catherine Huskins Blessing was born in Canton, Mo., November 18th, 1870, and died at a hospital in Keokuk Friday morning, June 16th, 1933.

The family lived in Lewis county until he was 13 years of age, then moved to Schuyler county. At the age of 22 years he returned to Lewis county where he was united in marriage with Birdie Vandruff, January 19th, 1892. In 1897 they moved back to Schuyler county.

To this union were born 4 children; George V.(Viola), of Downing; Guy H.(Margaret), of St. Anthony, Iowa; Mrs. Paul (Marie) Farland and Roy (Pearl), of near Memphis.

He united with the Christian church at Coffey in 1908.

He leaves his wife, the 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 4 brothers, F.M. and P.H. of Downing, Clarence of Canton, Mo., and Joe of near Memphis.
