Mr. George Clarence Beauford, age 92, of 5136 Gresham Rd., Douglasville, formerly of Buchanan passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Mr. Beauford was born in Etowah County, Alabama on May 18, 1917. He was the son of the late C.B. Beauford and the late Arlie Powell Beauford. Mr. Beauford was a retired forklift operator. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Beauford. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Doris and Roy Weathington of Douglasville, Jean and John Ganues of Buchanan, Ena and Tony Jenkins of Powder Springs and Tina Glover of Douglasville; one brother, Charles Beauford of Saint Paul, MN; eleven grandchildren; twenty on great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 12 Noon from Mount Zion East Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Timms officiating. Music will be rendered by Veronda Shoemaker. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Johnny Figueroa, Jimmy Beatty, Spanky Register, James Baughn, Jeff Weathington and Danny Schlief. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The remains will lie in state at the Church from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
