She was presumably a native of Tokat, Turkey and likely died there, though it is not known when except after 1896. Her maiden name can also be spelled Demerjian or Demirjian. She married Boghos Kurkjian, and as their eldest daughter was likely born in the mid-1870s, Nartouhi was presumably born around 1858. She had five known children, her youngest daughter born around 1896. There are discrepancies as to what the names of the three sons were, but the names Pilbos, Hampartsoum, and Souren were found on one handwritten document. Her husband was a furrier and the family was well-to-do, but little else is known about them. It is not known if Boghos and Nartouhi were alive in 1915, but if they were they likely died in the deportations of the Armenian Genocide, as did some of their children and grandchildren. Their youngest daughter and some of their grandchildren survived and many of them later moved to the United States.
