He was a native of Tokat, Turkey and likely died there, though when is not known except after 1896. He was likely born in the 1850s and was married to Nartouhi Damerjian . They had five known children, a daughter was born in the likely mid-1870s and another, probably the youngest, was born around 1896 or 1897. There are discrepancies as to what the names of their three sons were, but the names Pilbos, Hampartsoum, and Souren were found on one handwritten document. Boghos was a furrier, which is the meaning of his last name Kurkjian. As such, the family was well-to-do, though little else is known about them. It is not known if Boghos and Nartouhi were alive in 1915, but if they were they likely died in the deportations of the Armenian Genocide. Their daughter Maritza was taken away during it and presumably died as did at least one son, while another son seems to have been living in Istanbul at the time and thus lived. Nothing is known about the third son, whether he was alive or not. Their youngest daughter Vartanoush and grandchildren that were in Tokat were sent on a deportation route and along the way were claimed by Turks while others died along the way. Vartanoush escaped from captivity with the help of relatives and went to Istanbul where she was reunited with surviving family members including her sister's daughter and brothers' daughters. Her sister's daughter moved to Bridgewater, Massachusetts in 1923 and three years later they arranged a marriage for Vartanoush there and brought her over. Unfortunately anything more about the lives of Boghos and Nartouhi remains a mystery.
