Georgine Mildred Sievertsen was born in East Boyer Township to Louis and Milda Miller Bandow and lived on the family farm outside of Manilla, Iowa. She was baptized September 3, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where she was also confirmed in her faith. She attended country school and graduated from Manilla High School in 1951. After graduation she worked at the High School and the local hardware store which she often referred to as her favorite job. She worked as a nurse's aide in Omaha before her marriage to Dale Sievertsen of Denison Iowa. They were married at Zion Lutheran in Denison on January 3, 1954. This union was blessed with a daughter Rebecca (Becky). Once Becky was in high school, Georgine began employment for Omaha Public Schools working in the cafeteria at George W. Norris Jr. High and Field Club Elementary until her retirement in 2006. After her retirement she served as a volunteer for the food pantry at First Lutheran Church in Omaha of which she was a member from 1954 until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Melvin (Mac), Edwin (Ed) and Irwin (Irv) and sister Virgine Ohl.
She is survived by her sister Berdine Petersen of Ida Grove Iowa; daughter Becky and son in law Larry Lavelle of Omaha; two grandchildren Patrick Lavelle of Chicago and Anne Lavelle of Omaha; her favorite person in the world great grandson Jalen Lavelle Peoples and great granddaughter Alessandra; many nieces and nephews and dear friends Lois Maloney, Marianne Bonnnemier and Bill Hanna.
Senior Pastor Josh Keinath of Zion Lutheran will conduct the family graveside service at Nishnabotna Cemetery on Monday November 11, 2019.
