Probably buried in Oregan near "Carey Bend". Still looking into this (Jan 2011).
The following is from Jon Ridgeway:
Ruth Odell was born Dec 20 1806 in Ohio to James and Sarah (Martindale) Odell, who had moved from South Carolina in 1802. In 1807, they moved to Wayne County Indiana, where on Aug 26, 1824, Ruth married John Carey. It is believed John and Ruth moved to Illinois in 1840, and then onto Oregon in 1847 in the Elias Buell wagon train. They settled near Dayton, Yamhill Co., OR. Ruth died April 8, 1888 in Sheridan, Yamhill Co OR
other info I have found said she died in 1873. (see below)
If anyone has more concrete proof on these dates, please click the "edit" tab in the corner and send me more info.
Also, I've been looking into where they are buried for a couple of years now. Please please let me know if you have any information.

In 1880 census of Independence, Polk Co OR, Ruth Carey was 73, b. in OH, parents b. in SC, widowed, keeping house; son Alfred M Carey, 32, OR was with her.
Pacific Christian Advocate lists date of death for Ruth Carey as Apr 8, 1888, age 82, Sheridan, OR
Since she was still alive in 1880, per the census, the 1873 date was wrong.
