Felix was a model of love and compassion toward his family and community. He served God with all his heart as a faithful servant of Christ in the church and the world. He enthusiastically enjoyed building his relationships in the community through service. Many of his tireless efforts go unnoticed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He impacted his family as he showered them with laughter, love and kindness.

Felix was born on April 21, 1923, in Caswell County, the son of the late Elisha Simmons and Martha Rice Simmons. Felix was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Simmons Ford and Henderson Toyota. He enjoyed contributing to his community in many ways.

He was a member of the Henderson Lions Club, serving as its president for several years. He was a former director of the Salvation Army and served as chairman of the board. He also served as a director and chairman of the Vance County American Red Cross. Felix served other organizations such as director of the Vance County United Way.

He was a recipient of the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award for Automotive Excellence and Community Service in 1990. In 1991, he was recognized as the Henderson-Vance County Citizen of the Year. His life of compassion and service spread through the community in many other capacities that are not listed here.

Felix was an active member of the First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, chairman of the Baptist Men, Sunday school teacher, and he was particularly fond of singing in the choir.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church . A private burial will follow in the Union Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Burlington.
