Phyllis Brattain nee Myers was born in Hipperholme, Halifax, Yorkshire England in 1901 to parents George Myers and Ada Lister. She had a younger sister Mary. The family moved to Hull, Yorkshire when Phyllis was 10. She met her future husband Carl Brattain in Hull during the War and followed him to the United States in 1919. They were married in Seattle in 1919. They raised 6 kids and lived in Snohomish and Oak Harbor. It was in Oak Harbor where they helped organize both the V.F.W. Post and Auxiliary. After moving to Seattle, Phyllis was President of the auxiliary and she became very active in volunteer work at the Firlands T.B. Sanatorium and the Fircrest Hospital. She raised 6 kids and after her husband Carl died she moved to Lake Stevens and then Arlington, where she died in 1985.
