James was the son of Joseph & Sarah Ann (Cockrell) Francis. He married Susan E. Barron 21 Mar 1876 in Harrison County, WV. They were the parents of Odia Lee, Edna Mae, Carl Robert, Sarah Anna, Maude Jane, James Grover and Iola Blanche.

JAMES FRANCIS DIES

NELSONVILLE, James Francis, 75, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sherman Brooks, on the Carbon Hill road. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Carbon Hill Christian church and burial will be made in the Carbon Hill cemetery. He leaves seven grown children.
