Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Paul Mitchell [Michael] Appelhanz, 61, 711 Lincoln, who died Wednesday at a Topeka hospital following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 3, 1913 in Topeka, and had been a life-long resident of Topeka.
He was employed by the Ideal Music Co., and was a member of St. Joseph's Church and Council No. 2608 of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He married Catherine Rose Puhl on May 15, 1935 in Topeka. She died in 1958. He married Mrs. Della Ruth [Debacker] Montgomery, July 11, 1968 in Baileyville. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Dale Appelhanz, 1715 W. 8th; a daughter, Mrs. Rose Mary Pinard, 8631 S.W. 53rd; six brothers, Adam J. Appelhanz, 1825 N. Taylor, Isadore Appelhanz, 3216 W. 11th, Leonard Appelhanz, 1705 Seabrook, Ralph C. Appelhanz, 328 Sumner, Raymond Appelhanz, 2244 N. Taylor, and T. J. Appelhanz, 137 N.W. 58th; two sisters, Mrs. William S. Berwert, 1518 N. Harrison, and Mrs. O. D. Allen, 2517 W. 10th.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Council No. 2608 Knights of Columbus will recite a rosary at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3003 Van Buren, 66611, or to the Menninger Foundation, 3617 W. 6th, 66606.
