Services for Mrs. Barbara Appelhanz, 67, 314 Harrison, will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. She will lie in state at the Brennan Funeral Home until 9 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited in the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m. by the parish, 7:15 p.m. by the Altar Society, 7:30 p.m. by St. Anthony's Guild and 8 p.m. by Knights of Columbus No. 2608.
Mrs. Applehanz died Sunday in a Topeka hospital. She was born July 28, 1893 in Topeka and was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altar Society and St. Anthony's Guild.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob J. Applehanz of the home; seven sons, Paul, 711 Lincoln, Ralph, 328 Golden Road, Raymond, 2244 N. Taylor, Adam, 1825 N. Taylor, Theodore, Route 3, Isadore, 5623 W. 13th, and Leonard, 1705 Seabrooke; two daughters, Mr. William Berwert, 1518 N. Harrison, and Mrs. Olan Allen, 2517 W. 10th; 32 grand-children; two brothers, John Hefner, 213 Quinton, and Albert Hefner, 1017 E. Bellview; and three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Cromwell, 213 Quinton, Mrs. John Mauer, 214 Harrison, and Mrs. Clarence Schoenfeld, 204 Tyler.
