Sarah married Joseph Allison of Parker Gate Farm, Bassenthwaite on 25 November 1896, at Grange in Borrowdale. The marriage was a double ceremony with her sister Jane Cartmell. Farmed with her husband firstly at Watergate Farm, Loweswater, then Riggwood, Bewaldeth and finally at Dancing Gate Farm, Underskiddaw until his death in 1949. Sarah raised three children by her husband Joseph Allison; Margaret, b:1897; William, b: Abt. 1900; and Mary, b: 1901. Sarah died at Low Nest Farm, Castlerigg, nr. Keswick. Is buried at St. Kentigern's Churchyard, Crosthwaite, Keswick with her husband Joseph Allison.
