Gillespie, July 4 - George Fries, 68, died suddenly Monday morning in Chicago.

Since childhood, he lived in this community before going to Chicago five years ago.

He had been in failing health for several years.

He was born April 7, 1881 [marker has 1880] in Germany, the son of Jacob and Catherine Lawler Fries.

Funeral services were held at the Wiese funeral home.

Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery.
