Virginia documents pertaining to Simon Abner VAS2179 (The following are from bounty-land records in the Library of Virginia) I certify Simon Abner enlisted in my Company the Thirtieth day of Jan'y One thousand hundred and seventy seven (1777) for three years. That in that span of time he reenlisted for the War. That he march to the Southward. John Marks, Capt [W452]

Continued... I do Certify that Simon Abner s Soldier in the Virginia line Joined my Comp'y in the fall (of) Eighty two &
soon after died while the Army Lay at Ashley Hill in South Carolina. Given under my hand this 30 day of Sep'r 1787 Clough Shelton [BLWt740-300] Capt. 6th Virginia Reg't Ent'd to dep'n. [Entitled to depletion pay] from 1st Feb 77 to last dec'r 81. If not settled.

Suggested edit: Simon seems to be Pvt. Paul Abney/Abner's brother, not uncle. Pvt. Paul signed Simon's War Pension papers in 1787. Therefore, Simon Abney should be listed as son of John Abney "the Lost Son".
