NAPLES (Special) -- Funeral services were held Wednesday of last week at 2:00 p.m. at the Naples Chapel for Mrs. Susannah Harker Richards, who died at her home Sunday evening December 19th of a stroke. Bishop LaVell Manwaring conducted the services. Invocation was offered by Frank Merrell and the benediction by A. G. Goodrich.

A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Goodrich, Orlo Goodrich and Velda Duvall rendered the following numbers "Eternity", "There is not Night," "Softly and Tenderly" and "Beyond." Harvey Knight sang the solo "In the Garden."

The speakers were President Archie Johnson, Joseph Collier and Byron Goodrich. Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park with Lewis S. Gardiner dedicating the grave.

The pallbeares were Ashel Manwaring, Ashel Haws, Charles Olsen, Arthur Soderquist, Alton Vernon and Carl Gardiner.

The deceased is survived by her husband, David L. Richards and the following children: Stella, Hannah, Lloyd of Vernal; Mrs. Lyman Anderson of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Glen Knight of Provo; Ben and Weldon. All attended the services, except Ben of Rodgeway, Colorado, who had sickness in his family and couldn't come. Six children preceded her in death. A granddaughter, Miss Donnette Myers of Eugene, Oregon also attended the funeral.

Mrs. Richards' father came to Utah with the second company of pioneers. Her brother, William Harker was the first white child born in Utah. Her father was the bishop of a string of ommunities from Salt Lake to Lehi, on the west side of the Jordan River. He spent two months each year visiting all the wards, during the tithing settlement. The first thoroughbred horses and sheep brought to Utah were imported by him. He also had charge of the church sheep herds in Tooele County for several years. Besides four missions, he built the first grist mill in Idaho.

In Mrs. Richards family there are eight bishops, three patriarchs and a stake president.
