Born in South Carolina, he came to Brooker from Yulee in 1929, where he operated his farm until ill health forced his retirement about 10 years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Annie Grimes, Brooker, Mrs. Zona Douglas, LaCrosse, Mrs, Leona Darling, North Carolina; Four sons, Harvey Fipps, Fernandina, Virgil, of lake Butler, Elbert of Cordele, Ga., and Hartford Fipps, of Cool Springs, S.C.; Thirty-three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren
Rev. Truby Parrish officiated with R.R. Carlton assisting. Wilson Funeral Home of Lake City was in Charge of arrangements.
