Kelleyville Woman Killed in Motor Crash
Mrs. Zaba (Zeba) L. Dahill, 43, wife of Thomas F. Dahill of Kelleyville, died late Saturday night at the home of Eugene Howe in Putney, Vt, following a highway accident when the car in which she was riding skidded from the icy highway at Putney, crashed into a tree, and caught fire.
Mrs. Dahill with her two sons and daughter was en route to Springfield, Mass., when the accident occurred. Cans carrying extra gasoline burst and the fuel splashed over the occupants of the machine, igniting instantly. Mrs. Dahill, who also received internal injuries, died about an hour and a half after the accident. Her daughter (Peg) received minor burns about the feet and one son (Larry or Earle?) sustained a bad scalp wound.
The body was removed to the Marcotte funeral home in Claremont and was later taken to the Dahill home. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at St. Patrick’s Church, Rev T. J. Finning officiating, with interment in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
The deceased, a native of Grantham, had lived at North Newport for most of her life. Besides her husband she leaves tow daughters, Isabelle and Dorothy, and five sons, Lawrence, Earl, Leo, Donald, and Fred. Her mother, Mrs. Ada Russell of North Newport, and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Harding of Newport and Mrs. Flora Ruck (Buck) of Orleans, Vt., also survive.
(Parentheses) added by compiler, granddaughter, Diana Dahill James.
