In 1954 they retired from farming, and moved to Salt Lake City Utah to be near their daughter. Then in 1961 they moved to Afton Wyo.
Among her many talents she made the clothes for the dancing dolls that her husband made. Some of these dolls with their clothing are on display at the county museum in Lincoln Neb.
Freda was baptized into the Lutheran church as a child in Neb. She was a kind and thoughtful person devoted to her husband and family throughout her life. She is survived by her children, Bill Samuell of Oregon and Esther Jordan of Afton Wyo., two sisters Mrs. William Bartels and Mrs. Geroge Bowman of Deshler Neb and 6 grandchildren.
