Joseph Burres Samuell died in the Star Valley Hospital from Cancer. He was born in Hebron Neb. and grew up working on the family farm. As a youth he was baptized into the Lutheran church. In 1915 he married the prettiest girl in all of Thayer County and for the next seven years they worked their farm near Hebron. In 1922 they choice to make the move to a bigger farm in the area of Goodland Kansas. They owned and operated this farm for the next 35 years. After retiring from farming the moved to Salt Lake City Utah to be closer to their daughter. Use to working all his life he could not just set around. He took a job as the school crossing guard at the redwood road school crossing and kept this job till 1961 when they move to Star Valley.
Among his many talents was his wood working skill. He made many dancing dolls and his wife Freda made the clothes for them. These were given to family and many friends. Among those dolls is the collection of dolls that his sister Delma and her Husband Frank Stewart used in numerous shows in the Lexington,Neb. Area. These dolls are now on display at the museum in Lexington,Neb.
Joe will be remember by all that knew his as a kind and gentle man, a good friend and neighbor, one that really cared for his fellow human beings.
Joe is survived by his widow Freda R. son Billy B. of Oregon, Daughter Esther (Floyd) Jordan of Afton, Sisters Mrs. Gertie Palmer and Mrs. Edna (William) Ahlschwede, Hebron Neb., Delma (Frank) Stewart, Lincoln Neb. Mrs. Bessie (Lorenze) Ahlschwede, Appleton, Wis., and Mrs. Bridie (Christopher) Backer of Nampa Idaho.
