"The death of Reuben Rickabaugh, which occurred at his home west of town on Thursday of last week, was brought about by a curious though not uncommon cause. Four weeks ago he cut his wrist slightly, the wound being insignificant. A few days later swelling set in and his whole arm became affected with blood poison. It is probable that if his arm had been amputated his life could have been saved, but he gradually grew worse and died within four weeks of the accident. (The remains were buried at Lakeview).
Reuben served in the B35 Regiment, Missouri Infantry and the Nodaway County Regiment, Missouri Home Guard in the Civil War.
