David Henry RICKABAUGH was born 23 Mar 1821 in Ohio and died 10 Mar 1900 in Union Twp Worth Co MO. He was buried in Sheridan Cem., Worth Co MO. He married Nancy DAVIS, daughter of Levi DAVIS and Mary RUDYARD on 14 Oct 1840 (recorded in Marriages in Jackson County Ohio 1816 – 1866). David and Nancy are buried under the same headstone.

David H Rickabaugh obituary from the Sheridan Advance reads, "One of the Pioneer Settlers of the Platte Valley called to his reward-leaves a record worthy of imitation. After an illness of a few weeks, David Rickabaugh died at his home 2 miles southwest of Sheridan, Sat. night March 10, 1900. The funeral was preached by Rev. Roof at the Methodist Church in Sheridan at 11:00 o'clock Monday, interment taking place afterwards in the Sheridan Cemetery. The deceased was one of the oldest settlers of Worth County, was an honored & highly respected citizen & enjoyed the esteem & confidence of all who knew him. It can truly be said of him, that he leaves a record worthy of imitation. He settled here about 40 years ago & has been identified with the improvement progress & enlightenment of the community in which he resided. He successfully passed through the hardships consequent upon an early settler, in what was then a frontier country and through hard toil gathered around him sufficient of worlds goods, to make life comfortable in his latter years. Though passed the average age of man & while his death was not unexpected, his passing away was accompanied by genuine sorrow throughout the community. This was attested by the large number in attendance at the funeral & who followed the bier to the grave to pay their last respect to the dead. Pall bearers were: James Boyles, W. T. Shades, Tom Surplus, T. B. Stoner, C. A. Carroll & W. F. Dowis. David Rickabaugh was born in Ohio march 23, 1820, being nearly 80 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Nancy Davis, October 16, 1841. He settled in Worth County, in 1857, entering the land on which Sheridan is located & also 160 acres adjoining it on the north. He has lived at the home place, comprising 240 acres, 2 miles southwest of town, for nearly 2 score yrs. To Mr & Mrs Rickabaugh 11 children were born, 5 of whom preceded their father to the grave. 6 remain with the aged companion & mother to mourn the departure of the devoted husband & father. Mrs. Rickabaugh is 75 years of age & with the exception of being prostated with grief over recent bereavement is enjoying comparatively good health. The children living are Mrs. Suffice Shrader of Oklahoma, William & Isaac, Mrs Lucinda Nutt, Mrs Sarah Anderson & Port Rickabaugh all of Sheridan. The old couple have 46 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

He & Nancy had 11 children: Sophie, who married oseph Srader; Ruben, Mary Jane, who mar. Wm. Jones Nutt; William Henry, Stephen A., Isaac, Lucinda who mar. Moses V. Nutt, Rachel C., who died young, Sarah A. who mar. Wm. Anderson, David Porter & Allen who died young.
William Henry Rickabaugh b. 4-13-1848 in Springfield, Ohio & died Sheridan 7-17-1934. He married Adi Stingley, 5-24-1868. She was b. 11-23-1854 near Guilford, Mo., & d. in Sheridan 5-25-1923. She was the dau. Of William & Elizabeth (Munson) Stingley. Wm. Henry & Adi had 5 children: Nancy Jane, who mar. John W. Bainum & had 3/c. (see their sketch), Mary Elizabeth who mar. John A. Reddick & they had 2/c. Cecil Frank (1-20-1896-12-23-1964) & Marie A. (10-21-1899-1-4-1981). Anna, who mar. Burton L. Simons & had 3/c. Willie L. (4-18-1896-6-2-1975), Paul B. (6-2-1975) & Floy Adi b. 3-3-1912. Jennie Vee, who mar. Albert Straiht & had 5/c. Doy (5-22-1905-9-26-1907), Dorothy L. b. 11-30-1906, Virgil Troy (8-18-1908-10-4-1929), Cora Adi b. 10-14-1915 & Lucy Irene b. 11-7-1916. Porter Rickabaugh who mar.
